Periscope Live Button Now On Twitter App
You can now go live from your Twitter app with one click on both iOS & Android via a new LIVE button. Periscope was acquired by Twitter in March 2015 for $86.6 million. Periscope was launched in March 2015 and only one year later it had already done 200 million live broadcasts.
To start a broadcast tap the LIVE button and it will take you to the Periscope app on your phone. If you don’t yet have the app it will offer to download it. Getting more Periscope users quickly is likely the main motivation for Twitter to add the button since Periscope has around 20 million users and Twitter as of the first quarter of 2016, averaged at 310 million monthly active users.
Periscope is in a battle with Facebook live for live video supremacy and Twitter knows this. It also is well aware that video is not only Facebook’s future, but it is Twitter’s future as well.
